ST. JOHNS, N.L. - Craig Cunningham scored a short-handed goal as the Providence Bruins edged the St. Johns IceCaps 3-2 in American Hockey League action Tuesday. Matt Lindblad and Anthony Camara also scored for the Bruins (24-18-6), while Malcolm Subban stopped 27 shots. Adam Lowry and Ben Chiarot replied for the IceCaps (26-17-3). The Bruins opened the scoring 27 seconds into the second period when Nick Johnson passed out front and Lindblad scored a low one-time slapshot. The IceCaps equalized when Jerome Samson fired a point shot, which was tipped home by Lowry with lots of traffic in front of the net 4:33 into the second period on the power play. Cunningham scored with a high blocker backhand on a shorthanded breakaway at the 11:10 mark of the third period. The Bruins took a two-goal lead when Camara tapped the puck into a practically-empty net, as IceCaps goalie Michael Hutchinson was caught out of position 15:07 into the third.
