HOUSTON -- Oaklands offence went cold after the As jumped out to an early lead against Houston on Friday night. When they finally rediscovered it in the ninth inning, almost everybody got in on the action. Daric Barton and Josh Donaldson had two RBIs apiece in a seven-run ninth inning during which 12 As batted to help Oakland to a 12-5 win over the Astros. The game was tied at 5 when Josh Fields (0-2) plunked Brandon Moss before back-to-back singles by Alberto Callaspo and Craig Gentry loaded the bases. Bartons sharply hit grounder bounced off Jose Altuves glove and into right field to send two home. Rookie right fielder George Springers error on that play allowed a third run to score, sending the few fans left filing to the exits. "It was awesome to finish the way we did," Gentry said. "I thought Mossy getting hit by that pitch and Callaspo with that nice single, I think that really got us going. Once we got a couple of runs across, we were kind of relaxed and were able to let it go." Donaldson, who homered twice on Thursday night, connected again on Friday with a shot off Anthony Bass to the Crawford Boxes in left field to make it 12-5. Moss was hit by a pitch for a second time in that inning after the home run to become the first player in the majors to be hit twice in the same inning since David DeJesus on June 18, 2012. Jed Lowrie had two hits and two RBIs to help the As improve to 5-0 against Houston this season and 25-5 against the Astros all-time. Altuve had three hits and drove in a run for Houston, which has lost 10 of its last 12 games and allowed 22 runs in the first two games of this four-game series. Chris Carter hit a leadoff double in the eighth inning, but Luke Gregerson (1-1) retired the next three Astros to end the threat. Former Astro Fernando Abad hit Jason Castro on the backside with a pitch with one out in the ninth inning. Castro jawed with catcher Derek Norris before heading to first base. Houston manager Bo Porter darted out of the dugout and began yelling at plate umpire Jordan Baker and was ejected. "If youre going to toss our guy (Thursday), it looked pretty intentional to me," Porter said. "Its a judgment call on the umpires part, and he didnt think it was intentional. I said my piece and what I thought, and he threw me out of the game." Castros plunking came after Lowrie accused Houston of intentionally hitting him with a pitch Thursday night for an incident in the last series between these teams when the Astros were miffed after he attempted a bunt with a seven-run lead in the first inning. Moss didnt think he was hit on purpose, but he parroted what Porter said a night before when Lowrie was hit. "Theyve hit us a few times this series and we hit one of their guys," Moss said. "I think Bo said it (Thursday), the game of baseball takes care of itself and thats what happened tonight. Some people may not like it, Castro might not like it but you stand behind your words." The As put up four runs in the second inning and extended the lead to 5-1 in the fourth. Houston answered with four runs in the bottom of the inning to tie it up. Jesse Chavez had his first tough outing of the season, allowing a career-high eight hits with five runs -- four earned -- in five innings. He entered having allowed just one earned run in each of his four starts and had a 1.38 ERA. Houston starter Brad Peacock yielded five hits and five runs, including three earned, with a career-most six walks in five innings. NOTES: As left fielder Yoenis Cespedes sat out Friday after straining his left hamstring a night before. Manager Bob Melvin said he expects him to be out a couple of days. ... Houston right-handed reliever Jesse Crain, who has been on the disabled list all season after biceps surgery during spring training has been shut down after developing bursitis in his shoulder. General manager Jeff Luhnow said the current problem is not related to his surgery. He was scheduled to return in early May, but Luhnow said he will not be ready then and he should have a updated timetable for his return in about 10 days. ... RHP Mark Appel, the first overall pick by the Astros in 2013, has been sent to extended spring training after starting the season at Single-A Lancaster. Luhnow said he is not injured but was behind after missing most of spring training after an emergency appendectomy and needed more games to get "more used to the pro routine." Paul Molitor Jersey . Rasmussen didnt have a decision during his four appearances in May, when he gave up two hits and no runs in two innings. Toronto used five relievers while pulling off the second-biggest comeback in franchise history on Friday night, rallying from an 8-0 deficit to a 14-9 win. Harmon Killebrew Jersey . After the loss, White refused to make good on the bet, instead offering Hoyt tickets to a Bears game. Bert Blyleven Jersey . In the Brewers six games this season, no starter has allowed more than three runs. "We see the guy in front of us do a great job and we want to do even better," Gallardo said after the Brewers beat the Red Sox 4-0 on Sunday, his second straight scoreless start. Tony Oliva Jersey .C. -- When Michael Jordan speaks, people still listen.NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Geno Smith and the New York Jets showed they can take a punch and bounce back with a win. The Tennessee Titans keep trying to keep their composure and failing. And losing.Smith shook off a punch to his head to throw a touchdown, and the Jets rallied to edge the Titans 16-11 on Sunday in the first NFL game to end with that score in a game that also will be remembered for a short brawl in the third quarter. Some Jets apparently went onto the field once the scuffle started as the Titans were challenging an 81-yard touchdown by Eric Decker overturned to a 48-yard catch. Titans defensive tackle Jurrell Casey hit Smith, but wouldnt share what they said to each other. Casey was not ejected.Having your quarterback getting punched in the face or what looked like a punch in the face, sometimes something like that happens, Jets coach Rex Ryan said. But you want to keep your players on the sideline. I clearly have to do a better job of that. The Jets improved to 3-11, snapping a three-game skid with their first road win. They also hurt their chances at the top overall draft pick, not that any of these Jets care.We cant worry about draft picks or anything like that, Jets safety Calvin Pryor said. The Titans (2-12) have lost eight straight and 11 of 12 along with quarterback Jake Locker dislocating his left shoulder. They now have a short turnaround with a visit to Jacksonville on Thursday night, and they currently would draft No. 2 overall. We left our guts out there, Titans coach Ken Whisenhunt said. Its hard, no question. Here are some things to know from this battle for draft position:CJS RETURN: Ryan made Chris Johnson a game-day captain in his return to play the team that cut the running back in April. Johnson also started the game, and the man nicknamed CJ2K averaged 5.5 yards on 10 carries. Johnson also had his long run of 37 yards out of the wildcat on the Jets game-winning drive down to the Titans 4.There was motivation, but I just tried to block all that out and tried to focus on the New York Jets needing a win and tried to make plays, Johnson said.LOCKERS HEALTH: The TTitans already were on their second quarterback when Locker dislocated his left, non-throwing shoulder when hit by Jets end Quinton Coples late in the first half.ddddddddddddLocker started for Zach Mettenberger, who has a sprained left shoulder expected to keep him out the final two games. Charlie Whitehurst finished the game, but injuries also had the Titans down to their second emergency quarterback in receiver Kris Durham. Locker said he wont know if he will be available against the Jaguars until getting his shoulder checked further Monday. Its a little painful, Locker said.THAT SAFETY: The officials initially called the Jets safety a fumble recovered by New York before Whisenhunt challenged. He had a rare win when a review showed Smith was throwing as he hit the grass in the end zone. Smith said he was trying to throw to Chris Ivory, while the official ruling was intentional grounding with the result a safety. The NFL said later referee John Parry would have ruled intentional grounding if the play had been an incomplete pass before the review, so the replay review involved only whether it was a pass or fumble.THOSE LATERALS: The Titans subbed out all their offensive linemen on the final play, keeping only the centre for a play where Charlie Whitehurst threw to Dexter McCluster. He lateraled to Nate Washington, who then threw backward to Whitehurst. The quarterback ran 20 yards to the Jets 42 before tossing back to Delanie Walker who got to the Jets 9 before being tackled to end the game.I probably should have stayed up the middle, but its a crucial moment and I was just trying to make a play, Walker said.Ryan said he thought Whitehursts toss to Walker was a forward pass that should have been blown dead to avoid injury.THREE WINS THERE, REX: The Jets coach was so excited about getting a rare win this season that he misspoke on just how many victories they have.Jets fans want to win, Ryan said. Are you kidding me? We have only got two of them.___AP NFL website: www.pro32.ap.org and www.twitter.com/AP_NFL___Follow Teresa M.
